UV stands for “Ultraviolet Rays” in English, UV ink refers to ink that undergoes cross-linking polymerization reaction upon exposure to ultraviolet rays, instantly solidifying into a film. UV ink can be used in various printing techniques such as flexography, offset printing, gravure printing, and screen printing, with relatively widespread usage in offset, flexographic, and screen printing.

Features:

UV inks consume less energy, allowing for instant drying with no odor. They require minimal ink consumption during printing, leading to less waste and minimal environmental pollution. UV inks create films that are resistant to wear, corrosion, and weathering, with excellent gloss and vibrant colors after printing.

Precautions:

Ensure the intensity of ultraviolet light from UV lamps; maintain a proper balance between ink and water; adjust ink consumption and color sequence according to the characteristics of UV ink.

Types of UV Ink Printing:

  1. Full-Surface UV Printing: UV ink is applied all over the print surface, enabling fast and efficient printing. This method is commonly used for the inner pages and covers of brochures and promotional materials, as well as the surfaces of posters and packaging boxes, providing protective effects. For inner pages using full-surface UV, leave a 2.5mm non-coated area on the spine to ensure strong bonding during subsequent processes.
  2. Spot UV Printing: UV gloss is applied selectively to specific areas of the printed material. The UV layer is thick and glossy, highlighting specific images or text and achieving a striking effect. Spot UV can be applied directly to the printed material or added after lamination for a more prominent effect.

UV ink is priced higher in the market compared to regular ink, resulting in higher printing costs.

UV ink market price is higher than ordinary ink, its printing cost is also larger than ordinary ink printing, therefore, in the design and production of the pre-production, should do a good job of the relevant budget. Secondly, in the development of back-channel process processing strategy, should fully take into account the special characteristics of UV ink on the implementation of other process technologies. the mature use of UV technology, making multi-process combination printing and three-dimensional printing technology and market prospects for rapid growth, small Elephant Chiho is committed to providing brands with a complete packaging solutions to achieve the packaging of the thought that is, what you see, what you see is what you get.
